Director La Décima Planta [Usina Creativa & Sherpa Cultural]
Juan Rivas (Vigo) is a musician, composer, and cultural manager with nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of artistic creation, cultural industries, and strategic management. A Communication graduate with postgraduate studies in Cultural Management and Copyright, he has worked on projects with institutions such as Spain's Ministry of Culture, Xunta de Galicia, Provincial Councils of Ourense and Pontevedra, University of Vigo, and Vigo City Council, as well as companies like Prisa Radio, SGAE, EMI, WEA Chappell, and Polygram. He served as President of SGAE's Territorial Council in Galicia (2014–2020) and as a Patron of the SGAE Foundation, he was part of the governing body responsible for approving and directing resources for social aid, training, and promotion of creators.
As director of La Décima Planta, he has promoted Ourense ICC Week (2015–2023), recognized in PÚBLICA 23 as one of Spain's five most relevant cultural projects, the independent music festival Vive Nigrán, and has advised on European programs such as INTERREG and POCTEP. Since 2023, he has directed Vigosónico, a public reference space for young creators in Vigo.
His work has been recognized by the Spanish Music Academy, which incorporated him into its Nomination Committee (2024–2025). Recently, he has participated as a speaker at the AIE Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Copyright, in curricular conferences for ESMUC's Management Master's program, and the Music Industry Master's at the University of Vigo. His work focuses on linking culture, innovation, and the creative economy as an engine for development.
