Alicia Cano

Alicia Cano Menoni, born in 1982 in Salto, Uruguay, is a Uruguayan director, producer, and audiovisual communicator, with a degree in Communication Sciences from the University of the Republic and a master's in Audiovisual Production from the Catholic University of Italy, with professional experience in Mexico, India, and Italy; she has directed outstanding documentaries such as El Bella Vista (2012, exhibited at San Sebastián and Karlovy Vary), Locura al aire(co-directed with Leticia Cuba, 2018, presented at human rights festivals), and In Praise of Nothing (2017), culminating with Bosco (2020), which won the Silver Biznaga for best documentary at the Málaga Festival, was nominated for the Platino Awards 2023, and was screened at Cannes, establishing her as a key figure in Latin American documentary cinema committed to memory, diversity, and cultural citizenship.
