Anders Rykkja

Anders is a professor of arts and cultural industries management at Queen's University Belfast. His research interests include cultural entrepreneurship, platform economics, the music industry, festivals, and the management of cultural and creative organizations. He is an affiliated member of the Crowdfunding Research Center at the University of Agder (Norway) and was coordinator of Knowledge Works (2014 – 2018), a research center sponsored by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture on cultural and creative industries. He is co-editor of an upcoming volume titled "Cultural Funding and Finance: A Guide to New and Traditional Models in the Arts and Culture," which will be published in open access by Palgrave MacMillan/Springer in November 2025. Before entering academia, Anders worked for more than twenty years in artist management, concert and festival production, artistic programming, and domestic entertainment. During his time as an industry professional, Anders ran a startup that produced 300 concert productions and festival appearances annually, managed the careers of successful chart musicians and award winners, handled programming for European Capitals of Culture, and served as general secretary of the Norwegian Festival Association.
