César Villanueva Rivas

Dr. César Villanueva Rivas is a Professor-Researcher in the Department of International Studies at Universidad Iberoamericana and holds a PhD in Political Science from Linnaeus University-Växjö, Sweden. His research specializes in analyzing the intersections between contemporary culture, country image, soft power, and international relations.
As General Coordinator of the project "Mexico's Image in the World" (www.imagendemexico.org), he maintains close collaboration with the Institute of Applied Research and Technology (InIAT-Ibero) in the areas of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. His teaching activity encompasses courses in cultural and public diplomacy, contemporary Mexican art, and the projection of Mexico's image abroad.

His most recent publication, "Sombreros, Frida y Boom: Alteridades, Representaciones e Imágenes de México en el Mundo (2007-2012)," was distinguished with the Modesto Seara Vázquez Prize from the Mexican Association of International Studies (AMEI) as the best book in International Relations in Mexico during 2024.
