Santiago Álfaro

Santiago Alfaro Rotondo is a sociologist from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and holds a Master's degree in Society, Culture and Communication Media from the University of Leeds. He also has postgraduate studies in International Cultural Cooperation and Management from the University of Barcelona. He has served as Deputy Manager of Performing Arts and Cultural Industries of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, General Director of Cultural Industries and Arts of Peru's Ministry of Culture, and external consultant for entities such as the British Council and the IDB. His research lines include cultural policies, cultural consumption, and approaches to equity, diversity, and inclusion. He teaches at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and in the postgraduate program in cultural management at the University of the Republic (Uruguay).

He has worked on cultural projects related to various fields including performing arts, music, audiovisual industry, intangible heritage, museums, and indigenous peoples' rights. His research lines include cultural policies, cultural consumption, and approaches to equity, diversity, and inclusion. He teaches at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and in the postgraduate program in cultural management at the University of the Republic (Uruguay), and is part of the research team on intangible heritage and human rights at the Regional Center for the Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage – CRESPIAL.
