Selma Ancira, born in Mexico City in 1956 and living in Barcelona since 1988, studied Russian Philology at Moscow State University and Modern Greek Language and Literature at the University of Athens. She has been widely recognized for her masterful translations of Russian authors such as Alexander Pushkin, Lev Tolstoy, and Marina Tsvetaeva, and Greek authors of the stature of Nikos Kazantzakis, Maria Iordanidou, Yorgos Seferis, and our contemporary Theodor Kallifatides. She has recently published the essay El tiempo de la mariposa (Editorial Gris Tormenta), an account of the bond created between the translator and the translated author. Her work, published by Spanish and Mexican publishers, has earned her numerous awards, including the National Prize for the Work of a Translator (Spain, 2011) and the National Prize for Arts and Literature (Mexico, 2022).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
