Valerie Miles, American editor, writer, and translator, has resided in Spain for decades. She co-founded Granta en espa\u00f1ol in 2003, when she was in charge of Emec\u00e9 publishing house, and has directed the magazine since then. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Pompeu Fabra University and is literary advisor for Escribir el Prado, where she also edits its narrative collection. Her editorial work with Roberto Bola\u00f1o's manuscripts led to their posthumous publication and culminated in the curation of Archivo Bola\u00f1o, 1977\u20132003, the first exhibition of his private papers, together with the CCCB team in Barcelona. She has translated Juan Eduardo Cirlot, Enrique Vila-Matas, and Rafael Chirbes, and together with J. M. Coetzee, the poetry of Mariano Melgar. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Rockefeller Foundation, the Southwest Review essay prize, the PEN Translates award, and was a finalist for the Dublin Literary Award. Her bibliography includes Mil bosques en una bellota, 26 issues of Granta en espa\u00f1ol, and two of the British edition.
